On Thursday, I had my weekly NST. During it, I had a couple contractions, so the doctor decided to check my cervix, to make sure it was still closed. Only, it was 1-2 cms dilated. They wanted to do an FFN test, but you have to wait 24 hours after an exam to have it done or you can get false positives. It’s a test that determines if labor will start within the next two weeks.
I was admitted and kept overnight so they could do the test on Friday afternoon, 24 hours after they’d checked my cervix. Of course, my contractions stopped. I didn’t feel like I was going into labor, the contractions were just mild braxton hicks to me- I barely felt them.
Friday afternoon, they do the FFN test- and send it to the lab. I’m told it will take 3o minutes, an hour tops- to get the results. This is around 5pm. If it’s negative, I can go home. If not, they will have me stay another couple days to get a round of steroid shots for the boys’ lungs maturity.
8pm rolls around, and there’s still no results. The doctor comes in a bit later and says that the lab at the hospital ran out of the chemicals to run the test, so they had to send it out to another facility. The other facility wasn’t open until 9am the next day, and could take 24 hours to get back to them. And being Memorial Day weekend, well that didn’t help matters.
Saturday afternoon they come tell me that the lab told them that they won’t have the results ready until TUESDAY. So the doctors decided to give me the round of steroids anyway- since I’d be there, just in case. I got my first shot Saturday afternoon. OUCH. I give myself Lovenox injections twice a day but this just hurt and burned!
Every day they did an NST. That was basically the only treatment I received aside from the injections. I didn’t have to stay in bed, I wasn’t on strict bedrest. I had no IV, etc. I was so bored! I felt like I was wasting a bed, wasting everyone’s time.
Sunday (yesterday) I got my second steroid shot. They do two of them, 24 hours apart. About an hour after the shot, the doctor came in and said the lab sent over my results- NEGATIVE. I didn’t even need the shots. And because of that, I was getting sent home
So I was finally released yesterday afternoon. The babies and I are all fine. The really ironic thing was that my blood pressure was amazing the whole time.

I was worried about you when I didn't see an update in so long. I'm so glad you're all well and it was just precautionary. Keep on keeping on, Mama! You're doing so well!
