Ask me anything!

As a Marine’s wife, is there anything u wish you would have known before choosing to be with Aaron? My Marine is worried I don’t REALLY know what I’m getting into. I want to ease his mind.

Well, my ex husband was in the Army, which is basically just like being a Marine, only not nearly as cool- so I pretty much had the whole military wife thing down pat when Aaron and I married. I do suggest you take advantage of the many classes that the military offers to help you learn, such as LINKS and(http://www.usmc-mccs.org/links/index.cfm). Learn the acronyms, how to read their LES (pay stub), who to call when you need to contact him in an emergency. Things are done a certain way, and it looks a lot better for your Marine if you understand them, you know? There are SO many resources out there for spouses, you just need to know where to look. Of course there are parts of the military life that just plain suck, like deployments, and littler stuff like when they decide that your husband gets to pull a 24 hour duty shift on your birthday, but you just deal. They teach you at LINKS that the Marine spouse phrase is Semper Gumby- always flexible- a spin off of Semper Fi- always faithful. It’s true, you just have to learn to go with the flow.

I am not a military wife, but grew up as a kid of an Air Force dad [lifer] and your post is a great idea. What a great thing to help other wives/husbands. the military is such a presence today I am sure the spouses need all the help they can get.
    Well done xx

there are lots of things that I would change about militairy life if I could. With that being said, I married the man that I love, we were together before he joined the military, so we came into this together. I live by the saying, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.
