It seems that kids these days want gadgets- game systems, music players, etc- but all to often they don’t get the interactive, imaginative play with all of the technology. Or, the electronics aren’t age appropriate.
Mattel Fijit Friends are toys that combine age-appropriate innovation with progressive learning for all those tech-savvy kids out there. The latest in Fijit Friends- The Newbies- are cute pocket sized singing companions and are available in Halloween and winter themes with unique seasonal songs.
Newbies feature nurturing play so as kids nurture and interact with their Newbies, their singing improves. You can even have them perform duets with each other- and they’ll compliment one another in perfect harmony.
All of my kids played with the three Newbies we received. I’d thought they would be perfect for the girls, but the twins and even my 16 year old were captivated by these little guys. I think they will make great affordable holiday gifts this year, perfect as stocking stuffers or gifts for the kids’ friends.

Fijit Friend Newbies interact with the original Fijit Friends, communicating with Sonic Chirp, and they are able to unlock content. We don’t own any of the originals, but I bet it would be fun to see how that works! While I don’t think it’s necessary at all though to own one of the large ones, it probably would enhance the play.
The holiday themed Fijit Friend Newbies include Halloween ones like the black cat and purple bat and winter ones like the red reindeer and green mistletoe. You can find them at the Mattel website, in stores like Walmart, and of course online on Amazon.
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Mattel Fijit Friends. I received product samples to facilitate my review.
