I’m so far behind!  I feel like I haven’t blogged in ages.  Bacon is so amazing- he decided on the first day of life that he hated c-pap, so they switched him to the much smaller nasal cannula to see if he could keep his oxygen levels up with just that.  He did fine, although he also didn’t like that- he’d flip it around and it’d be blowing in the opposite direction of his nose, or he’d chew on it… so on day two they took him off of that as well.  He’s had no oxygen support since then!

He spent three days or so under the bili lights.  His jaundice was never too bad, but they just wanted to get it out of his system.  He hated being under those lights- because he didn’t like the mask and he really didn’t like being naked.  Now that he’s able to wear his clothes and keep all the stuff off of his face, he’s much more content.  He was also able to move out of the isolette and into an open crib since he’s had no issues maintaining his temperature.

Then there is the feeding- as a 32 weeker, there was a good chance he wouldn’t have the concept of suck/swallow/breathe down.  They started him on IV fluids when he was born, and as his feeds increased, they were able to cut down on those until they finally pulled his IV a few days ago.  Sometimes he gets tired, and doesn’t finish eating, and then they’ll put the rest of the milk through his NG tube.  But each day he’s taking more and more full feedings.

The nurses all say he’s acting like a much older baby.  I say he just wants to come home!

I’ve been doing a lot of pumping and driving back and forth to the NICU.  I can’t get enough of his squishy little face.  Here’s some pics from the last few days- I’m pretty sure he’s the cutest thing ever, but I might be biased.
