I thought I’d share some pics from January of 2007- five years ago!

Lili was a diva even at age not quite 5.

Toddler Mia. She just turned 3.

Lili was in a preschool gymnastics class.

And Mia was enrolled in the Mommy & Me one.

I love shopping for clothes for my children, so when MomSelect gave me the opportunity to select an outfit from Hartstrings.com to review, I jumped at the chance. I’d never heard of the brand before, and I spent quite a long time browsing to find the perfect ensemble. At first, I checked out the baby boy section for the twins, but then I decided that I wanted to get more use out of the clothing, so I decided to search something that would fit both of the girls and headed to girls items.
I fell in love with the Geometric Floral Tights, and I was determined to make an outfit around them so from there I went to the dress category to find something that went with them. Hartstrings makes it super easy to find items that go together because they group their clothing lines by names so that you can mix and match. This is also great for coordinating all your children’s outfits for photos.
The tights I liked were from their Modern Preppy line, and I was able to browse just those items to ensure a perfect match. I ended up selecting the Geometric Print Jumper and the Organza Trim Knit Top in Berry Pink to complete the outfit. All three pieces are currently on sale as well!
When it arrived, Mia jumped at the chance to be my model. She says it’s soft and comfy and she’s already worn the outfit to school. I was impressed with the quality- it’s definitely an outfit that will withstand many washes and kid abuse and still look new! The sizing and fit are just right too- I debated ordering up just in case but I’m so glad I didn’t.

Amelia Elyse turned seven today. We didn’t do much, because we have her big birthday bash planned for next weekend for all her classmates. I can’t wait to share all of those plans with you!
We tried to go to the pumpkin patch, but it was closed. We ended up just going to dinner and then doing cake at home afterwards.
We could not for the life of us find candles, not even a votive or tea light! We ended up using sparklers left over from the 4th of July. The girls decided that sparklers were way cooler than candles, and have requested that we always use them.
And now for our annual trip down memory lane. Let’s go backwards this year…

Lili really wanted me to dye her hair blue for school this year, but I knew it would take more maintenance than we were willing to do. Blue on blonde hair always fades to green, and she didn’t want green. So we settled on purple, and the night before school started, we dyed.

I thought it came out great- she hated it. She had been under the impression that I was doing her entire head. She cried. She thought it would be blonder (I have no idea why) and didn’t like that the purple was only in one spot.

So we busted out the dye and bleach again, and I added a few highlights to the top layer of her hair. I darked up the purple a bit, and added some to the other side. It really didn’t look all that different to me, but the tears were gone, and out came the smiles.

Why yes, those are still boxes we have yet to unpack...
She’s such a diva.
We also did Mia’s, but underneath. She didn’t complain, and loved it instantly. I love how you can only really see hers when it’s pulled up.

Let's not discuss her butchered bangs...
And one more of Lili the other day. I’d busted out the curling iron to see how her hair would look with a little body. She’s always been jealous of Mia’s natural curls waves.
