As a year of baby bottles comes to an end…

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PBM Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

Before you click away because this is a sponsored post, I want to let you all know I’d never write a sponsored post for something I’d never tried and liked. When I saw this opportunity, I thought hey, we use that stuff!  I figured I’d probably already written about baby formula at some point, and if I hadn’t, I would… since it’s part of our daily lives- so I may as well get paid for my opinions, right?

The boys are formula fed.  When they were in the NICU, the pediatrician put them on high calorie formula to help them gain weight, and they stayed on that for the first three months.  After that, they were switched to a soy based formula in an attempt to see if their spitting up was due to a milk intolerance or reflux.  They still spit, so I am thinking it didn’t help, but they kept gaining weight steadily so it was never readdressed.

The high calorie formula was almost twice as expensive as the stuff they’re on now, so thankfully they’re no longer on that kind.  Between the two of them, they go through about 20 cans a month.  At over $20 for a small can, that adds up FAST. According to the savings calculator, by switching to Parent’s Choice brand, we’d save $571.61 a year PER BABY!

We qualify for WIC, so we receive formula vouchers through that program.  However, it doesn’t cover the full amount of formula they use per month.  If they allowed us and all the other participants to choose Parent’s Choice formula instead of the Enfamil line, think of how much they could save, and how many more families they could afford to help out!   When we purchase formula outside of our WIC vouchers, we choose Parent’s Choice for the savings, and the twins have noticed no difference whatsoever.

Does your baby drink formula?  What kind do you use?  If Parent’s Choice wasn’t your answer, what would your savings have been?  Click on the link to the savings calculator and let me know!  I’m curious!

Ryan vs Green Beans

Turkey for me and turkey for you!

We fed the boys some sweet potatoes and cereal for lunch today. Ryan can’t see the spoon coming though, so it’s tricky. I find if I hold his forehead he’s less likely to gag himself when he leans in for a bite. They’ve also discovered a new trick- blowing raspberries with a mouth full of food- so that makes for not only messy babies during mealtime, but messy parents too LOL

I know some people hate messy baby food pics, but Ryan was so funny with some of his facial expressions.

So next we bathed the boys, since they were covered in lunch.

After that, Aaron cooked. Not sure why he decided to, but he did the whole meal :)
Then we ate!
The boys sat in their highchairs for the first time as well.

At first Ryan wasn’t amused. But then he decided it wasn’t too bad :)

After we all ate, while the pie was baking, Ryan passed out on the couch LOL

FOOD!

In the midst of all the doctors and treatments and traveling, Mr. Dylan has decided that the focus should not be entirely on his brother. First, he cut a tooth. It’s not a normal front bottom tooth like most babies, he had to go and cut one of the bottom ones on the side- the pointy ones. He’s been a veritable fountain of drool because of it.

Then, he decided he was ready to eat. We were at a restaurant one night while we were still in Philly, and Dylan was sitting on Aaron’s lap while he ate. Every time Aaron brought the fork up to take a bite, Dylan opened his mouth huge, as if he was getting the dinner.

I put my empty spoon in his mouth to see if he still had the tongue thrust reflex, and he LUNGED at it. He was very disappointed when there was no food in it. I gave him a taste of my whipped cream off of my dessert and he was in love.

When we got home, we decided it was time for baby food for Dylan. Yesterday he got his first taste of bananas- he loved them!

We’ve decided to hold off on Ryan for now- not only doesn’t he show the interest like Dylan does, but we are doing all we can to keep him happy and comfortable and I’m afraid of any potential allergic reactions or upset tummies in him.
