Bullet List Wednesday

  • I wore a dress today.  All day.  And not just an old maternity dress that I use as a nightgown around the house- it was a real one.  I wore it out in public to the store and dinner.    I never wear dresses- I am always afraid I will forget that I’m wearing it and won’t sit like a lady, or that I’ll come out of the restroom with the back of it tucked into my undies.   Please tell me I’m not the only one.
  • We got a message today saying that “Due to coliform bacteria found in the water, cease drinking water from faucets and water fountains unless the water is boiled until further notice.”  Good times, right?  So we went shopping and out to dinner to avoid using water as much as possible.
  • At the PX today, I bought the coolest thing ever which will only feed my cupcake baking addiction:
  • Let me confess another obsession- the new show on ABC Family called Switched at Birth.  LOVE IT.  It’s so good- way better than Secret Life.  Does anyone else watch?  It totally makes me want to go out and learn sign language.  I love all the relationships between everyone on the show- the rich kids and poor kids, deaf kids and hearing kids, biological parents and parents who raised the kids…
  • I heard there’s a heat advisory in effect for the rest of this week/weekend.  They are talking 105-110.  Yuck.  Yay for air conditioning!  I think it will be to hot to let the kids play outside.  They were out today for about a half an hour, and played in the shade, and were dripping sweat.
  • The kids and I went to Chili’s for dinner.  Big surprise, right?  I could not for the life of me get a decent picture of Ryan- he kept squinting and giving me the cheesiest faces.
  • I guess he gets it from Lili- she was making faces at me too.
  • At least Mia and Dylan both smiled nice for me!
  • I started this post hours ago.  I thought I had more to say, but I guess not.  So how has your week been?  Tomorrow is my Friday, yay!

Chili’s Triple Dipper- Good Things Come in 3’s

Anyone who has been a reader of my blog for any amount of time knows that our family LOVES Chili’s, and we eat there often.  It’s where Mia has chosen to have her birthday dinner the last few years.  Well right now, Chili’s is promoting their Triple Dipper where you choose three of your favorite appetizers- each with dips- all on one plate!  You can choose from:

  • Loaded Potato Skins
  • Memphis BBQ Skins
  • Honey-Chipotle Shrimp
  • Big Mouth Bites
  • Boneless Buffalo Wings
  • Southwestern Eggrolls
  • Chicken Crispers
  • Wings Over Buffalo
  • Fried Cheese
  • Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip

It all sounds so good, it’s hard to choose just three.  I was tempted to order two and have the girls share them with me, instead of getting them kids meals!

The kids and I went to Chili’s last night while Aaron was at  work (yay, no cooking!) and the boys and I shared a Triple Dipper with the Big Mouth Bites, Southwestern Eggrolls and Loaded Potato Skins.  It was so good, and the perfect amount of food for us!

Chili’s

If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, you’ll know we eat at Chili’s all the time.  So when I was given the opportunity to write a review, I jumped at the chance.

There are several reasons why Chili’s is one of our favorite places to eat.  I love that they are kid friendly, but not a kid restaurant.  They have crayons and a kids menu, but you don’t feel like you’re in the type of place with a play area and costumed characters.   The chips and salsa requires no waiting to be cooked, so little hands (and mouths!) are occupied, which is always a good thing.

When I go to Chili’s for lunch, it’s often just my infant twins and my five year old who accompany me.  I love that the staff is quick to open doors and seat us.  They are so helpful when I’m lugging two babies who don’t walk.  Not all places do that, and it is one of the reasons I keep going back to Chili’s.

And then there’s the food… oooh the food.  I have my favorites- as do my kids.  I love the Loaded Nachos on the new menu- I almost always order the chicken ones.   I’m also a huge fan of the Big Mouth Burgers.  My girls almost always order the kids Cheese Quesadilla.  They can pick from several sides, and I love that they have healthy options such as Sweet Corn on the Cob and Mandarin Oranges.   And of course, we often finish off the meal by sharing a Molten Chocolate Cake.

Right now, Chili’s is running a really cool promotion called Shout Out to Eat Out.  The contest is super simple to enter- just upload a 10-30 second video telling why you don’t want to cook that night.  Each day, they’re randomly selecting a winner from the entries.  Winners will receive a Chili’s gift card, and the contest runs until August 30th- so get your entry in!

Disclosure:  Chili’s sent me a gift card to write a review.  All opinions about Chili’s are 100% my own.  I’d have eaten there without the gift card.

Eagles, Brownies and I forget what the other was called, OH MY!

Mia dressed herself. Can you tell?

Back in the day of AOL message boards, I used to post a lot on the cloth diapering boards.  It’s where I learned and also where I bought- there was a whole classified section for dipes.  When the mamas there would get mail, they’d say they’d gotten an eagle if something was sent USPS because of the image on the priority mail packaging.  Likewise, when something arrived by UPS, it was called a brownie since the trucks are brown.  I know there was a name for FedEx too but I can’t remember it.

Today was a good mail day- first my Kindle came via FedEx.  I immediately registered it and charged it and downloaded my first book.  I am in love.  Best invention ever (aside from the interwebs, of course).

After that, the mail came… and the mailman delivered two packages.  They are products for my reviews and giveaways coming up next month.  I’m so excited- this is going to be an awesome event with so many fabulous sponsors.

Then, about an hour later, UPS showed up with another item for the 1st Birthday Bash!  It was seriously an amazing mail day today.

In other news… Aaron has duty tonight- boo.  Last time, he was supposed to be home the following morning since it’s a 24 hour shift but they made him work the next day- and he ended up working about 38 hours straight.  Hopefully that won’t happen again.  But because he isn’t here, I loaded the kids up and we went to Chili’s for dinner.

I don’t know why we always end up at Chili’s, but we do.  There are so many other restaurants in town, but for whatever reason, we love it there.  Is it bad that the servers recognize my family?  Ah well, it’s yummy and the kids like it.  And it’s WAY better than fast food since I get served LOL

Hmm I feel like there was more I wanted to say, but I got side tracked by World of Warcraft :X  and now it’s like a couple hours later…

OH!  I remembered one thing- Lili has a field trip tomorrow at some park.  I am not sure what they plan on doing all day, but on the permission slip it said that families were welcome to follow the buses and attend.  I figured I’d load everyone up and check it out, it might be fun for the kids & it will get me out of the house.

I also want to thank all of you who have tweeted, facebooked, and blogged about the MoD on my behalf- it means so much to have your support!  And of course, thank you to everyone who has donated- every dollar helps :)

And now, pictures!

No Milk = Shopping + Lunch Out

It’s been ages since I’ve had the car during the day. Ever since our Suburban starting sounding like the transmission is about to go, Aaron’s been using my car for work. In hindsight, it’s saved us a good amount of money, because I can’t just throw the kids in the car and go shopping and out to lunch.

Late last night, I went to grab another can of formula and realized there was no more. Being a night owl, normally I’d just get in the car and run to Walmart since it’s open 24 hours and grab some… regardless of the hour. I’ve been known to shop at 3am, no biggie. But I don’t do cold and it was cold and rainy. I knew we’d be good until the morning, but I totally wasn’t thinking about the one car factor.

When this morning rolled around, I told Aaron he needed to take the truck so I could have the car to get the boys their milk. I hope he got to work alright. I suppose he’d call if he was stranded and needed a ride.

The boys and I slept in today… probably because of Ryan’s late night playtime last night. Once we finally got up and dressed it was almost lunch time. I loaded up the twins and Mia and we headed out to get formula and have lunch.

I figured we’d better hit up the store first, since I was on our last two bottles. One for each. It’s still rainy and cold today, boo. I put Ryan in the Ergo because he was acting sleepy and Dylan in the seat of the shopping cart and proceeded to shop. As I was checking out, I realized something. No formula. Crap.

I’m just glad I remembered BEFORE I got them out of the store and walked through the rain to get them back in the car- or worse, after I got back home. We did another lap around the store and grabbed what we forgot.

After, we hit up Chili’s for lunch- Mia’s request. Since I’ve had no car since the beginning of December, I haven’t gone anywhere to eat with the twins without Aaron to carry one (or both). If I bring them to a store and leave them in their car seats, I park near a cart return and only really carry one at a time to put them in the cart. But today I had to carry them both in their car seats into the restaurant. They have gotten SO heavy!

I wish it wasn’t so rainy and cold. I’d have totally hit up a few more stores. It felt so good to get out of the house!
