More Please!

Yesterday, the speech therapist taught the boys how to sign ‘more’ and ‘please’ while she was here.  Ryan picked them right up and has been using them ever since, but Dylan is a bit more resistant.  And of course, he’s the one doing the most pointing, grunting and whining.

The past week or so, Ryan’s vocabulary has really increased- he still doesn’t string words together really, but he’s very happy to mimic us.  Neither would repeat after us before, so this is a good thing!  Sometimes he will do the sign for more while saying please.

I tried to get a video of them signing during lunch, but they wouldn’t perform on camera.  However, this afternoon they wanted some marshmallows and were willing to use their signs and their words- though more so Ryan than Dylan.

If you’ll disregard the undressed kids and mess in the background (and the creeper big sister at the end on the right side, I’ll share a video with you!

Now I have to go look up some more signs to teach them! Won’t it be cool if they can pick up a couple before they see the speech therapist again?

WW: Ryan shows his true colors

I always tell people Ryan’s the mean one, even if he’s littler and looks so sweet an innocent…

After the post-bath jumping (and biting) was over, they stopped for a banana break.

Got my straight jacket today, it’s made of gold lamé

I have always been a HUGE Weird Al fan, and wanted to share this with you. It cracks me up!

Saturday Night Antics

The boys did this for the longest time this evening, taking turns and giggling uncontrollably.  Whoever was the rider got to wear Lili’s old Minnie Mouse hat from when we went to Disney in California when she was about 4 months old.

Another huge hit? Plastic vampire teeth from the goodie bags at Mia’s party. The boys wear them and roar at us, it’s so funny.

I am so over road trips.

I went to visit family in NY last week.  My drive up went fine, despite my worries.  I was concerned because it was just the twins and me- no other adult, no helpful older siblings.  We stopped in a hotel about halfway into the drive and they were good- even if we did all end up in one of the two queen beds, with the the other empty all night.  (I should have asked for the king, but I had hopes of a bed to myself.  I know, I’m foolish).

Our time in NY was great, but what I’d like to discuss today is our return trip.  The same 12 hour drive took us 3 days.  There was a ton of bumper to bumper traffic, completely stopped.  Then when it was moving, there were torrential downpours, prompting drivers to go 3 miles per hour.  You couldn’t see two feet in front of you.

I could have pushed through all of that though- really I could.  But what really did me in was the whining and fighting.  My girls argued the whole drive- she’s using the blanket I wanted to use, her breath smells funny, she won’t keep her feet on her side of the van… you get the idea.

And then there was the new trick that the twins learned:

The visual isn’t fun to watch.  Then again, the audio kind of blows as well.  But this- this is what the twins did for the majority of the drive home.  And this is why I kept having to stop and get the heck out of the van and why the 12 hour drive took me almost 72 hours.
