What is your favorite beverage? Sweet tea or coffee. Diet Pepsi, from the tap. Er, fountain.

What is your favorite outfit? Oh gawd. I hate clothes. Nothing fits right since having the twins. I honestly spend most of my days (when I don’t leave the house, obviously) in a tank top and boy short undies. I am never dressed. And as soon as I come in the door, my pants are off.

What is your favorite book? Woah, that’s tough. I read A LOT and rarely read stuff more than once. I guess my current favorite is The Hunger Games.

Favorite movie? Zoolander. Or maybe The Emperor’s New Groove. Oh! Maybe Labyrinth.

Would you have sex w/a stranger for $100,000? Maybe. If it was OK with Aaron.

If you didn’t have kids, what do you think you’d be doing now ( like, career wise?) Oh gah, I have no idea. Maybe I would have become a teacher, since I wouldn’t have my own kids to annoy the crap out of me all the time. I really have no idea, I never declared a major in college. I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.

What is the grossest food out there, in your opinion? I am SO picky. I don’t like seafood, mushrooms, meat when it’s on a bone, so many things. I guess I’d have to say sushi. Fish is gross enough to begin with, raw, gag. I watch shows like Top Chef and could never be a judge- in the whole season there’s always like only one dish I’d even try.

Do you have any weird/gross/secret habits? Aside from never wearing pants? Hmm. Let me ask Aaron and get back to you!

What’s your dream house like? Big. So big I could lose my kids in it.  With a big, fenced in yard. Other than that, I don’t care about the rest of the details.

Do you like to cook? Yeah. But I like to bake more. As long as someone else is cleaning up, of course.

Where would you like to vacation if money was no issue? And why? I’d love to take a cruise, I never have. Or maybe do Florida again. Typical, I know, but when we piled all the kids in the truck and went a few years ago, we had an amazing time. I’d love to do it again.

How did you meet Aaron? I met him in an AOL chat room.  This story probably deserves it’s own post.

Do you have siblings? Nope, I’m an only child. My parents both remarried, but not until I was out of the house- and have step kids. But everyone is all adults, so I’ve never lived with siblings.

If you won a million dollars what is the first thing you would buy – for yourself? A big RV!

Because all posts deserve a photo... and I love how Dylan is clutching that Matchbox car in his sleep.

Answers! Because the world is dying to know…

How many colors of nailpolish do you own? Too many to count. I probably have 100 bottles floating around the house, easy.

Who was the first person you talked to this morning? What did you say? The girls. I said TIME TO GET UP AND EAT BREAKFAST!

What is your favorite state in the US? That’s difficult to answer, since I haven’t lived everywhere. I really liked when we were stationed in Washington, I liked our weather there. There were seasons unlike Hawaii, but it didn’t get super cold or super hot.

What was the bravest thing you’ve ever done? Oh that’s hard. I don’t think of myself as particularly brave. I guess getting pregnant knowing there was a pretty good chance I’d end up losing another baby.

What’s your favorite cereal? Anything with marshmallows. I pick them out and eat them and feed the cereal part to the kids. I’m not a huge breakfast food fan, and eat it maybe twice a year. And never with milk. The only exception is when I was pregnant with the twins- I ate Rice Krispies alllll the time.

Favorite color? Periwinkle. And turquoise.

Do you secretly have a favorite child? Oh yeah totally. But it changes all the time depending on which one is the best behaved at that moment LOL

Do you have a bucket list? No, not really. I mean, there are things I’d like to do, such as go on a honeymoon (hell, we’ve been married 10 years now and still haven’t gone) but I don’t have it all written out anywhere.

Do you have a dream car? What is it? Nah.. I’m pretty happy with my boring mini van. So much happier than when I had that stupid hulking Suburban. My van is a Nissan Quest.
For awhile, I had a convertible, and that was loads of fun, but we totally outgrew that. It was a Sebring, and I traded it in for the same thing, but newer and the four door, non convertible sedan version. Aaron has been driving that though, ever since I got the van.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? When I was in elementary school, I wanted to be a veterinarian. By the time I was in high school I was leaning towards becoming an elementary art teacher. But then I had kids and now I want nothing to do with other people’s kids!

What is your favorite thing to photograph besides your children? I don’t really take any pictures of anything else.  (This answer inspired me to take some pictures of the azaleas blooming in our yard today!)

Do you have a question for me?  Ask away!  I’m already working on a part 2.

Ask Me Anything! Part II

Originally posted on 12/28/09, but I feel the urge to answer more questions.

I feel like writing, well no not writing. When I write, I can’t even read it, my handwriting is so bad. And if I wrote, then you guys couldn’t read it, unless of course I scanned it, and my scanner is a piece of crap. So let me begin again.

I feel like blogging, but I could use a good topic or two. I thought perhaps you all would help me out there. I know when I read other blogs, I sometimes get lost. Usually if I’ve got a question about a post (like who the hell is Gustaf and when did he die?) I try to go back through the archives and tags to see if I can put the pieces together, but sometimes I have no luck with that. Plus as a mom, I don’t always have time.

I’ve often wanted to ask people things, but don’t want to look stupid or bother them. So here’s your chance- ask me anything. I’ll answer you either in the comments (if it’s a short little answer) or make a whole new post dedicated to your question. Don’t worry about offending me, it takes a lot to do that- and nothing is off-limits. If you’re uncomfortable asking in comments for the general public to see, feel free to shoot me an email (TaterTwins@gmail.com)

I look forward to hearing from you!

*I know this picture has nothing to do with the post, but it’s of Lili in the beginning of 2005 and I just found it and it cracks me up!

This photo doesn't have anything to do with this blog entry, however I hate when posts don't have pictures.

Ask me anything!

As a Marine’s wife, is there anything u wish you would have known before choosing to be with Aaron? My Marine is worried I don’t REALLY know what I’m getting into. I want to ease his mind.

Well, my ex husband was in the Army, which is basically just like being a Marine, only not nearly as cool- so I pretty much had the whole military wife thing down pat when Aaron and I married. I do suggest you take advantage of the many classes that the military offers to help you learn, such as LINKS and(http://www.usmc-mccs.org/links/index.cfm). Learn the acronyms, how to read their LES (pay stub), who to call when you need to contact him in an emergency. Things are done a certain way, and it looks a lot better for your Marine if you understand them, you know? There are SO many resources out there for spouses, you just need to know where to look. Of course there are parts of the military life that just plain suck, like deployments, and littler stuff like when they decide that your husband gets to pull a 24 hour duty shift on your birthday, but you just deal. They teach you at LINKS that the Marine spouse phrase is Semper Gumby- always flexible- a spin off of Semper Fi- always faithful. It’s true, you just have to learn to go with the flow.

An Answer

Aaron is Canadian! He was born in Ottawa, Ontario. He moved to Utah when he was little- I want to say two. (He’s not here or I’d ask!) After that, and before he joined the USMC, he lived in Colorado.

I was born in New York. Upstate. Not the city. I lived there until I married my ex- at that point, he went to active duty (he’d been in the reserves) and we were stationed in Augusta, Georgia. My oldest, E, was born there.

From there, we were stationed in Washington. State, not DC. We lived near Tacoma. My next son, B, was born while we lived there.

After that, we moved to Hawaii. Even though that is where we were stationed, I happened to fly back to NY when I was pregnant with our third son, O, and that’s where he was born.

I was still living in Hawaii after we split up, and that’s where I met Aaron. It’s also where Raime and Lili were both born.

As an interesting side note, the OB that delivered O- in New York- was military and got stationed in Hawaii and was there for Raime’s delivery and was my OB throughout my pregnancy with Lili. Lili came too fast for her to actually deliver her, but she showed up not long after.

Mia, Elora, Connor, and Ryan & Dylan were all born here in North Carolina. We’ve been stationed here for a long time as far as military goes- since 2002. Mia was born at the Naval Hospital on base, but the rest were all born over an hour away at a hospital with a NICU.
