I’ll begin with Ryan, since my last blog entry mentioned his inability to keep milk down and the multitudes of diaper changes thanks to his leaky bum. While I was at the dentist with the girls, Aaron took Ryan (and Dylan tagged along) to his weekly appointment with the doctor that’s in Greenville.
Once there, they decided he was getting dehydrated, so he got an IV of fluids. That took two hours. They also determined that his platelet count was low, so after that, he was sent off to get some of those, also via a two hour IV drip.
They told us in the beginning of his cancer treatment that there was a good chance he’d need some blood products because of the chemo, so we knew it was a side effect we might see. I’m thrilled though that his little body was so tough not to need any help until now.
He’s still a bit ornery, which is very unlike him, and still having some diarrhea, but he sure looks a lot healthier- his skin has pinked up a lot and is about the same color as my leg that he’s sleeping on (probably not the best comparison, since I’m super pale LOL). He’s also tolerating Pedialyte nicely now. Hopefully he’s past the worst of it.
HOWEVER, Lili just came running out of her room and barfed all over the hallway and bathroom. Why can’t my kids seem to hit the toilet? Argh.
So it looks like she won’t be going to school tomorrow, and I am really regretting feeding her nachos and a bacon cheeseburger for dinner tonight. Oh and don’t forget the brownie sundae dessert thing…
Have I ever mentioned that I don’t do bodily fluids? I can’t handle it without losing my own lunch. You would think I’d have built up a tolerance after seven kids and being a parent for the past almost 14 years… but nope. I’ve been known to call Aaron at work and ask him to come home and clean up. Yet another reason I’ll never be Mother of the Year, I suppose.
Anyway, there’s our update. I hope your families are doing more sleeping and less barfing.
