The Weekend’s Festivities
Busy Busy!
Yesterday was very busy for us- it started with the alarm not going off in the morning. We all overslept and Lili missed the bus. I got everyone dressed and drove her in to school about an hour late. I figured since we were all dressed, that I’d head over to Target and wander around.
I was looking for bunny ear headbands I’d seen in the dollar section awhile back, but all they had were flowers. The boys were so funny with them on- they kept staring at each other. This one of Dylan laughing and Ryan staring at him like he’s nuts cracks me up.
We ended up walking out of there without buying anything- which is SO unlike me. But walking through the snacks aisle made me decide to head over to the commissary to buy some snacks and drinks for our road trip that’s coming up. I went to the one on the base where Aaron works even though it’s smaller because I was hoping it would be less crowded than the big one. They’re always packed on payday.
When we were done, it was lunch time so I called Aaron and we met at the Wendy’s on base for lunch. They only had one highchair! I tried to let Dylan sit on the bench with me but he kept pulling himself up to standing and stealing everyone’s food, so eventually I squished him into the highchair with Ryan. I snapped this with my cell phone, I’d left my camera in the car.
When Aaron went back to work, Mia and I went on a mission to find a camera bag for my new camera. We tried Best Buy and Radio Shack, but had no luck. I finally found one at Sears. Go figure. Because Sears is at the mall, and so is Ben & Jerry’s… we were forced to get some ice cream. I bought the boys some vanilla frozen yogurt again, and they were thrilled.
At the mall, we saw the Easter Bunny. Not saw him in the sense I took the kids to sit on his lap or anything, but just remembered that it was almost Easter and he was there. Mia really wanted to get her picture taken, but I told her we should wait for Lili. It was almost time for Lili to get home from school by then so we went to get her from the bus stop.
Mia told Lili all about how we were going to see the Easter Bunny and the girls decided they couldn’t possibly see him without Easter dresses. I figured I couldn’t let the boys get their pictures taken with sticky ice cream covered shirts, so I grabbed them some outfits I’d bought for the summer to wear. Then we went on an Easter dress hunt for the girls.
We headed back to Target because I usually find great clothes for the girls there, and was disappointed in the selection. In the same strip mall is a Ross, so on a whim we walked down there and hit the jackpot. Lili found a dress for $11.99 and Mia picked one out that was $8.99! Score! I love a good bargain.
Also in the same area is a Payless Shoes, so we headed over there to get some spring shoes to match. We took all our purchases and headed home to get dressed and wait for Aaron, so we could head back to the mall for Easter Bunny pictures. While we waited a I took a couple pictures of the girls and the twins napped in their car seats in the van where they’d fallen asleep.
Aaron got home, and we loaded the girls back up and headed out to the mall. Again. We went and changed the boys into their clean outfits and then went to see the Easter Bunny. I wasn’t sure if the boys would be scared of him, they didn’t mind Santa, but that was three months ago. They did ok though, no crying. Ryan was skeptical though. Here’s our final result- I had to take a picture of it since I didn’t go all out and buy it on disc.
By then we were all hungry, so we ate dinner at the mall. At that point Lili informs us that she needs to bring some stuff to school the next day, so we end up stopping at Walmart on the way home. By that time, we’d been out of the house more than 12 hours, and everyone was getting cranky and exhausted. I think I need a week to recuperate!
Spring Family Fun Day
Yesterday there was a free Spring Family Fun Day hosted by our local parks & rec department. There were tons of games for kids to play, hay rides (the girls declared those too itchy LOL), pony rides, a fire truck, and bounce houses. There were also Easter Egg hunts later on, but we didn’t stay for those. The girls had a blast! I took a ton of pictures… here are a few of them.
